
Tomohito Otobe
Tomohito Otobe is a Principal Researcher at the Kansai Institute for Photon Science, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST), Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Tsukuba. His research focuses on first-principles simulations of ultrafast light–matter interactions, including real-time time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), strong-field electron dynamics, valleytronics, and large-scale computational methods for quantum materials. He is one of the principal developers of the open-source simulation package SALMON, which is widely used for large-scale simulations of electron dynamics in solids, nanostructures, and laser-driven nonequilibrium phenomena. His current research interests include large-scale real-time electron dynamics, multiscale light–matter simulations, and next-generation computational frameworks for nonequilibrium quantum systems.
