Title:
Transport in systems  exhibiting correlated phases. Variable range hopping and charge density  waves in TiS3 and Weyl semimetal transport in GeSn  alloys

Abstract:
The first half of this  talk will focus on recent work on TiS3, which suggests an interesting  and rich transport phase space which is dominated  by variable-range hopping effects at the lowest temperatures and a  competition with emergent charge density wave physics at intermediate  temperatures. The interplay between these regimes is the subject of our  ongoing work, in which we combine our experimental  data with recently developed theory on the high-field behavior variable  range hopping systems. The second half of the talk will focus on  ongoing experimental work at NTT in which GeSn samples doped with carbon  (predicted to be a Weyl semimetal) are being measured.  We present the results of several recent experiments that provide  reasonable evidence for this hypothesis.
